Rubbish
Whilst living in the wildest depths of Bedminster, I did a lot
of walking and came across a lot of rubbish. I started picking
up interesting looking items and discovering that these bits
and pieces were not actually rubbish at all. They were snippets
of people's lives, clues of their lifestyles, secrets and fantasies.
After finding copious amounts of ephemera ranging from didgeridoos
to love letters, I became less worried about looking like a
tramp rummaging through rubbish and increasingly obsessed with
scanning the pavements to see what I could find.
Dearest Daughter-in-Law
I found this letter folded up outside the museum on the docks in Bristol.
It was too unique to put to one side
and so I created a book based on what might have happened
in this situation! I wanted the feel of the book
to reflect the nature of the found object
by incorporating objects in the book itself...
it is currently unfinished...
Sorry I killed your dog
A friend found this card in Clifton shopping centre and kindly donated it to my project.
The outcomes were short pieces, mainly taking the form of unconventional books whereby the narrative is embedded in the 'book' itself.
Bored in Class
I found this note on a seat at the back of a bus.
It is a note between two friends at school, talking about ballet and 'Lloyd' being 'over lush' one girl has to borrow her friend's ballet gear and here's my response.
