The Life and Patronage of Sir John Laing

Wilmington Academy Workshop

I was invited to visit Wilmington Academy in Kent to give a talk and art workshop to coincide with their Food&Drink project in art and design.

We had a great day where I shared my journey to becoming an illustrator, and my process and experiences. The students were interested in seeing me demonstrate watercolour techniques as well as marks and line using indian ink and fineliners.

The students then worked on some warm up sketches and experimented with continuous line drawings on scrolls of paper, using the room around them to practise their observational skills.

The second part of the workshop consisted of creating their own poster of favourite lollies, utilising the techniques I had shown and pushing colour outside of the lines!
